NHS - What is type 2 diabetes? |
The NHS guide to type 2 diabetes. |
The First Year: Type 2 Diabetes: A Patient-Expert Guide for the Newly Diagnosed, by Gretchen Becker |
This book is relatively old (published 2004), and sometimes shows its age, particularly when it treats the internet as a novelty. However, it is still the single best resource I've found so far. It combines compassion, practicality, and a lot of information. |
Life Without Diabetes: The definitive guide to understanding and reversing your Type 2 diabetes, by Professor Roy Taylor |
A book explaining the latest science on the cause of type 2 diabetes, and an approach that may send it in to remission for many. Ignore the slightly sales-y title; the science is fascinating. |

Your Simple Guide to Reversing Type 2 Diabetes: The 3-step plan to transform your health, by Professor Roy Taylor |
A simplified and much-reduced version of Life Without Diabetes. Handy if you just want a brief introduction and guidance on the diet. I'd recommend Life Without Diabetes if you really want to learn about the research behind the diet. |
Reversing the irreversible: Type 2 diabetes and you |
Recording of a lecture by Professor Roy Taylor. Similar (but obviously reduced) content to Life Without Diabetes. |
Newcastle Magnetic Resonance Centre - Reversing Type 2 Diabetes and ongoing remission |

Carbs & Cals: Carb & Calorie Counter |
Chris Cheyette and Yello Balolia |
Carbs & Cals do a series of a books with nutritional information and recipes. The "Counter" book contains an introduction to nutrition, and hundreds of different foods, with their nutritional information set out. It's a really helpful book if you're unsure which foods are carb-heavy, or want to learn to judge approximate carb content visually. |
Downsizing: How I lost 8 stone, reversed my diabetes and regained my health |
Tom Watson |
Tom Watson, former MP, describes his struggle with type 2 diabetes and his weight. He's strongly in favour of keto. It's not the most well written, but it's an easy read, and it may be helpful to read about an actual human experience of diabetes. |
